Bio
Proud breastfeeding advocate
From a young age, I aspired to be a midwife, but life's circumstances delayed my journey until my mid-20s when I began nursing training. Initially drawn to gynecology nursing, I was unexpectedly offered a position in the neonatal unit after my first interview. While I enjoyed working with newborns, I missed engaging in adult conversations. This prompted me to pursue midwifery, a decision I embraced wholeheartedly from my first day in maternity care. Over the years, I've transitioned between nursing and midwifery, ultimately discovering my true passion as a specialist midwife in infant feeding.
After more than 17 years of dancing through the worlds of clinical nursing and midwifery, I can’t wait to share my journey with you! From heartfelt moments with new parents to navigating the ever-evolving landscape of maternal and infant health, every experience has shaped my passion.
In my courses, you'll not only gain insights from my expertise but also dive into real-life case studies, showcasing the real challenges and solutions faced in breastfeeding support. Together, we’ll tackle the practical scenarios that arise in everyday practice, making our learning experiences engaging and impactful. Here, I undertook a PG Cert in education and continued to a Master’s program in Academic Practice, specialising in utilising gamification in clinical education. This training equipped me with advanced skills to foster learning and development among healthcare professionals.
Not long after I qualified as a I midwife I found myself being excepted for a temporary role as an infant feeding research midwife, where I contributed to a significant study focused on supporting low birth weight babies. This experience was instrumental in shaping my knowledge of infant feeding practices and the Baby-Friendly Initiative, cementing my passion for educating others on effective breastfeeding techniques.
Following my research position, I transitioned to a public health midwife role, where I engaged with new mothers and their families to promote healthy practices and ensure access to vital resources.
